The 1minute Projection Mapping Competition is one of the most prestigious and long-established international competitions dedicated to projection mapping. Since its launch in 2012, it has become a global platform and a gateway for creators aspiring to make their mark in this rapidly evolving field.
The competition attracts a wide range of participants ー from professional visual creators and emerging young talents to artists with innovative and experimental ideas ー each presenting their unique vision through projection mapping.

Michiyuki Ishita is an internationally recognized artist who creates immersive spatial experiences by treating images as light. In 2011, he founded the Projection Mapping Association of Japan and has since become a leading figure in the field, planning and directing one of the world’s largest international projection mapping competitions, overseeing various national projects, and being widely invited to lecture and serve on juries at major international festivals.
As a creative director and producer with a strong artistic vision, he has developed numerous one-of-a-kind projects, including the content planning and production for TOKYO Night & Light, a permanent projection mapping installation on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the projection mapping program for the Osaka–Kansai Expo, and NIGHT WAVE, an iconic installation that illuminates waves along the coastline.

About the Projection Mapping Association of Japan
The Projection Mapping Association of Japan was established in 2011 by a collective of leading creators and professionals, with Michiyuki Ishita serving as its representative. It was incorporated as a General Incorporated Foundation in 2012.
The association is committed to promoting and advancing projection mapping as a new form of visual expression. Its initiatives include raising public awareness, expanding creative possibilities through emerging technologies, and collaborating with governments and local communities to develop tourism resources and regional branding.
The association also places a strong emphasis on artistic exploration and human resource development. Over the years, it has made significant contributions to the growth of the field both in Japan and internationally, notably through its long-standing organization of one of the world’s largest international projection mapping competitions.
